When teens get caught sending sexual text messages or naked photos, it’s not just embarrassing—it’s criminal. Sexting can be considered child pornography and turn your child into a registered sex offender (although many states like New Jersey are trying to ease the consequences). What would you do if you caught your child sexting?

I honestly think that this is a regular thing. My kids know lots of kids that are doing it. And they have seen some of the consequences, mostly that everyone will see it, so they at least know it is not as private as it is intended to be! My kids are aware of the risks. But, while my kids look down on it, they aren’t shocked. It seems like to teens, it is the equivalent of writing a dirty note– and even when I was a teenage girl, guys and girls did that. Heck, alot of ADULTS I know sext. So, If I caught my kid sexting, I’d disable texting after a long period of grounding. Kids are more worried about getting in trouble with their parents and embarrassed by their peers more than they care about breaking the law. The teen years are full of getting away with as much as possible and invincibility.
